Q - Who are your favorite comedians? (top)

Emo Philips, Steven Wright, and Rodney Dangerfield.

Q - Rodney Dangerfield was known best as a one-liner comedian:  Are there any great one-liner guys today? (top)
The best right now is a guy named Dwight York---he is hilarious!  Dwight is popular on Bob and Tom and I saw him live at the Comedy Forum recently.  He does 45 strong minutes of one-liners.

Q - What about women? (top)

I love ‘em!

Q - No, I mean female comedians, who do you like? (top)

Kathleen Madigan, Margaret Smith, Janet Williams and Christine Stedman.

Q - Funniest TV sitcoms ever? (top)

The original “Bob Newhart Show” and now “Everybody Loves Raymond”.

Q – Where do you get comedy material from? (top)

Everywhere!  Daily occurrences, driving, working, the newspapers, TV news, stupid comments, etc.

Q – What is the biggest mistake new comedians make? (top)

Stealing material off other comedians, especially famous ones!

Q - Any similarities between golf and stand-up comedy? (top)

Yes! set-up, rhythm and  timing!  You need them in both.

Q - Why did you become a PGA Golf Professional? (top)

Easy answer, no drug testing!

Q – Why did you become a stand-up comic? (top)

See answer given above.  I’m sarcastic often.

Q - What is the biggest fault players have when hitting a golf ball that slices? (top)

Bad shoulder alignment and no concept of the downswing.

Q - Did you play college golf? (top)

No!  I went to both Parkland College and the University of Illinois Fire Institute and studied Fire Science.  My father was a Chief (not Indian) for 21 years.  I’m the only one in my family that is not involved in fire fighting anymore.  If the pro shop ever catches on fire----I’m over qualified.

Q - Which job do you like better, golf pro or comedian? (top)

Whichever pays the most at the given time.

Q - Are the PGA Tour players really that good compared to local good players? (top)

PGA Tour players are unbelievable.  If you think you are good enough to try any pro tour just because you are good around here----wake up!  I would say on an average par 72, 6,900 yard course around here, you need to average around 66-67 to even consider the pro tours.  There are 15 and 16 year old kids that will kill you right now in Florida, Arizona and California.

Q - You are also a rules official for the USGA and PGA? (top)

Yes, so don’t screw with me or I’ll penalize you!  My national test scores are very good.

Q - What is the biggest audience you have performed stand-up for so far? (top)
The biggest was about 25 women at a Jenny Craig seminar, they cleaned off more plates than most major league umpires!  The largest number of people was about 450 with Mark Sweeney and Tim Walkoe.

Q - How do you go from being serious as a Rules Official or PGA Instructor to acting like a drunken clown on stage? (top)
I think the key word there is ACTING!  The better the act----the better the laughs.  I love hearing people laugh.
